Northern Virginia, DC and Maryland
A home studio built in your house, by someone who lives down the road.
We are based in Reston and build home video and podcast studios across Northern Virginia, the District and the Maryland suburbs. Your room, designed in 3D, built on site, and handed over ready to record.
What we build here
Most of the people who call us are not podcasters first. They are founders, executives, advisors, coaches and consultants who are on camera every week and are tired of fighting their room to look and sound right.
We turn the space you already have into a studio you can walk into and press record. A spare office, a closet, a basement corner, a room above the garage. We have built a two-seat interview set in a 9 by 15 Reston office and a full one-person studio inside a 6 by 6 closet, also in Reston.
- Lighting that makes you look like yourself on a good day, every day
- Sound treatment that stops the echo without turning the room into a cave
- Camera, framing and an eye-line that feels like talking to a person
- A real backdrop that tells your story, instead of a virtual one that flickers
- One-button recording you, an assistant or a family member can run
Why local matters for a build
A remote plan works well for a lot of people, and we do plenty of them. But when you want it done for you, being close changes the job. We can see the room in person, hear how it sounds, check the windows at the time of day you record, and come back to adjust once you have lived with it.
It also means the people who design it are the people who install it. Nothing gets lost between a designer in one city and an installer in another.
Areas we serve in person
On-site builds and production days across the DC metro area, including Reston, Herndon, Ashburn, Leesburg, Sterling, Chantilly, Fairfax, Vienna, Tysons, McLean, Great Falls, Arlington, Alexandria, Washington DC, Bethesda, Potomac and Rockville.
Further out, we have built on site in Georgia, Connecticut, Arizona and New Jersey, and we design studios remotely for clients anywhere.
Build your own room or rent a studio?
There are good rental studios around Dulles, Herndon and the District. They make sense for a one-off shoot. If you are on camera every week, the drive, the booking and the setup time add up fast, and the rental never looks like you.
A studio at home is ready when you are. Five minutes before a client call, a keynote or an interview, you sit down and it already works.
How it works
We start with a discovery call about your room, what you record and how often. Then we design the space in 3D so you can approve it before anything is bought. We source the gear, build and install it, dial in camera, sound and light, and train you on handover.
If you would rather build it yourself, we can do the design and coach you through it instead. How far we go is your call.

Common questions
Who builds home video and podcast studios in Northern Virginia?
Home Studio Mastery, based in Reston, designs and builds home video and podcast studios across Northern Virginia, DC and the Maryland suburbs. We handle design, gear, install, acoustics, lighting and training.
Do you come to my home or office?
Yes. For an on-site build we visit the room, design it, then install and dial everything in on site. We also design studios remotely for clients outside the area.
Can you build a studio in a small room?
Yes. One of our Reston builds is a complete one-person studio inside a 6 by 6 closet. Small rooms are often easier to make sound good than large empty ones.
Is a home studio better than renting a podcast studio near DC?
For an occasional shoot, renting is fine. If you record or take important calls every week, a home studio saves the travel and setup time and always looks like you.
How long does a build take?
It depends on the room and on gear lead times. We give you a timeline once the design is approved, and most of the waiting is on gear, not on the install.
Want this worked out for your room?
